TERROR ASSUMES! BUT ARE WE PREPARED? ( 26/11/2008)

I never knew I would feel the urge to share this, my emotions on 26/11 Mumbai blasts. But after  the Black Wednesday of 13th july 2011, I wish people to feel the urge for not withstanding it any further.

The following was written in 2008 :

A real mission to divide the nation into diminutive parts – that is what we can call it.

The year brings havoc for the country. Not just inflation, but Bomb blasts, terrorist attacks, and political drama, all ravaged the country and played pandemonium upon its populace. Surely, it is an orgy of terror, anguish, and a nostalgic state of affairs.

May 13, 2008, it started. Seven bombs ripped through the crowded streets of the western city of Jaipur, killing several.
Then on July 25, eight small bombs hit the IT city of Bangalore, On July 26, At least 16 small bombs explode in Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat. Nevertheless, On September 13, At least five bombs exploded in crowded markets and streets in the heart of New Delhi, killing at least 18 people and injuring scores more. A little-known group called the "Indian Mujahideen" claims responsibility for the Ahemdabad blasts, Delhi Terror, and the attack in Jaipur. Yet again Terror struck the hub of Northeast when over a dozen blasts on October 30 ripped through commercial areas of Assam. The terror assault continued when Mumbai was under its shadow on 26 November.

“SEVEN MONTHS, SEVEN STATES, 63 BLASTS,” reported Hindustan Times. If this does not show the incompetence of our system then what else does?

Well, the Raj Thakrey’s instance does. I consider a time, not so long back, when we were thrilled about the political scene devoid of the Sanghs, the filthy criminal politicians, the goon raj and all the self-proclaimed moral policing organizations who just aim to enter into a gravy train. I remember watching YUVA, how proper it seemed, and how, first time in my existence, I wanted to believe in a Bollywood flick.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s president Raj Thakrey has single handedly taken all our misconceptions of seeing an India, led by virtuous young breed of pro-development leaders. He has proved once again that doing away with secularism is a small price that leaders today and prospective leaders of tomorrow are ready to pay to stay in power. He has proudly burst our bubble of the image of an India free from caste, religion, and regional politics.

In fact, I am not sure whether we should spurn him at the stake or thank him, for he has indeed opened our eyes to the fact that young or not, politicians are politicians and they will on no account change.

Not only Raj Thakrey, we have so many other politicians who are playing with people for their own benefits. If they are real cream of the crop, they should stand up during trouble time. If we gaze at the case of what terrorized our very own “Aamchi Mumbai,” we tend to bring to a close that our commandos, military, and police are doing very good job, and this show the unity of our Nation. But where Raj was at this time, is my question.

As I just elucidated upon the Mumbai case, it seems to be the most petrifying of all. The people in other parts of the realm spent all hours in front of the TV and even I watched in anguish and in overwhelming grief the proceedings on the streets of Mumbai. I was riveted to the incredible anchoring of the Journalists. They were at it nonstop for almost 24 hrs; reporting, discussing, interviewing, taking opinion, tirelessly.

Not just mine, but the soreness has been the sight and plight of our innocent, vulnerable, and completely insecure fellow citizens, who faced the wrath of this terror assault. And my antagonism has been at the ineptitude of the authorities that were ordained to look after us. And of course, nation has had the utmost pride in those from the forces that have and continue to fight for our autonomy. Brilliant officers and police personnel had laid down their lives for us. I can only but salute them and respect their sincerity in the call of duty. Especially, Hemant Karkare of the ATS, who in the past was being targeted by various political parties for the work that he was doing. Even Aamir Khan posted in his blog, “When will these politicians realize and admit that terrorists HAVE NO RELIGION.” In fact, they are not people of religion or God. They are people who have gone very sick in their head and have to be dealt with in that manner.

But if it had just been a matter of simply fighting the terrorists, the security forces would have dealt with it sooner, but here of course the situation was extremely complicated with many innocent lives at stake. Raj Thakrey was nowhere to be seen and this horrid incident yet again proved the ineffectiveness of our security management system.

At least now, the politicians should learn to not divide people and instead become responsible leaders. An episode such as this really exposes how ill equipped we are as a society as far as proper leaders go. We desperately need young, dynamic, honest, intelligent, and upright leaders, who actually care for the country. This surely is a pregnant concern.

But then, those that do not speak are accused of not speaking. Those who do, get run over by the incongruity of their content. There is slaughter of faith and for this reason annoyance. Annoyance not just because there is no reliance, but because there is no one that is devising a way out. It is a condition where anything or anyone shall become a prey of ridicule and negativity. It is a situation when any and every action will be up for question and opinion.

Any democratic set up will necessitate an elected representative and an administration to administer and run the country. Today there is apathy of both politicians and administrators. Reams and reams of paper and cyber script have been expounded with solutions, acts, and deeds that need to be recognized. Each and all of these bring logical and concerned ideas, suggestions, and solutions. Each and all are questioned and put away.

Every individual has a conjecture of what is wrong and what needs to be done. And anyone with any credible or non-credible profile will and is being slogged. There is just no space for reason and understanding or any tolerance towards it.

Some philosophize in poetry. Some vituperate in words. Some candle in silence, some parade in demonstration. Some brood eventualities, some vocalize in visual. Some conference on strategy, some indulge in exploit. Some weep at loss, some weep at sympathy. Some courage in reconstruction, some repair in caution. And some like me write articles on it. And some…sitting far, or within us, twitter and chuckle on the completion of a dastardly action…!

But then, is there a way out?

There surely is, and subsequent contemplation of the conscious citizens shall prove it. As P.B. Shelly coined in “If winter comes, can spring be far behind?”

There is far too much that has remained subdued and nascent, for far too stretched. The dam has just been breached and the waters of the barrage burst out, uncontrollably! The Better of the people is yet to come.

And now the Terror Strikes Again. These Terrorists will continue to cause pandemonium in our country, yet our Government would provide safe havens to these people. People may vituperate in words, candle in parade, or pray in silence but Justice is not delivered.
Today let us all Pray together to hail on God and Humans to together stop this brutish fight forever. May there be peace and goodness. Amen!
